Did you know the intricate sport of golf is one of the oldest sports still played today? Its earliest roots date back to the 15th Century in Scotland, with the first 18-hole round being created sometime later at the Old Course at St Andrew’s in 1764. From there, the traction of the game continued with golf’s first major, and now the world’s oldest golf tournament, The Open Championship, being held for the first time in 1860. Today the historic game is celebrated across the globe, appearing as a televised sport watched by millions as the weather warms and it’s time to tee off. Whether it be played for fame or fun, there are plenty of golf courses in Snohomish County where people can go for the green in the hopes of a hole-in-one!
